Training: Media Designer Image and Sound

Every year, the eLearning.Media department of the Bielefeld IT Service Center trains two Media Designers (m/f/d).

What do Media Designers do?

As an apprentice Media Designer for Image and Sound, you will be involved in all steps of the production process for image and sound media: You will develop concepts for media productions, create image and sound recordings, and edit them using various editorial and design aspects. You will learn how to handle technology professionally and how to use your creative skills in a targeted manner. Preparing, setting up and testing technical equipment and systems such as cameras and editing suites in media and studio rooms is also part of your job.

Media Design Image and Sound at Bielefeld University

The project duration of the Media Design apprenticeship is three years and is based on the principle of the dual training system. The practical training takes place at Bielefeld University in the eLearning.Medien department of the Bielefeld IT Service Centre (BITS). The theoretical part of the training takes place in the form of block instruction at the Robert-Bosch-Berufskolleg in Dortmund. During your training with us, you will supervise a wide variety of media projects for teaching staff, students, researchers, and employees of Bielefeld University.
This includes, for example, supervision of sound recordings in the voice booth, video recordings in a wide variety of formats, introduction to and support in the use of professional audio and video software in our media rooms, mixing and mastering podcasts and audio books, or studio recordings in multi-camera operation.
